Here is a lot of digger work involved. Fortunately we could borrow a digger from a friend, he is a builder and sometimes I go and work for him. He pays me in supplying the digger for us and for our drain layer to use. The bases for the water tanks and the septic tank had to be dug in, leveled with gravel, and some drain coil buried under drain metal. A reason why building is expensive is the amount of gravel used in those transpiration fields – 6 truckloads only for this!
Burying the waterline up to the header tank will have cost us the most sweat, blood and skin so far! As we couldn’t do it all with the digger (too steep), I was fortunate enough to have 2 strong guys (helpers) with me those days. Digging in the steep hill under the relentlessly burning sun, pipe and cable in and covering again.
Now that everything is in place, the fun part begins, connecting the water tanks, plumbing in valves/taps, pump etc.
